Class Overview:
This course introduces the profession and practice of horticultural therapy
and describes the types of programs utilizing horticultural therapy as well as the cognitive, social, emotional and physical goals for the diversity of people served. It also exposes students to professionals in the field, literature and resources for further exploration. Useful as a substantial introduction to the field, this course is also a prerequisite for all other HTI certificate courses.
Horticultural therapy helps people rediscover their connection to plants and achieve
their own true nature and human potential. This course will give you an overview of the field of horticultural therapy. Learn about the rehabilitative practice that uses the cultivation of plants
and plant-related programs to improve human well-being. The course describes the types of programs utilizing horticultural therapy as well as the cognitive, social, emotional and physical goals for
the varied people served. It also exposes students to resources for further exploration and to professionals in
the field.
